  Barkev Taslakian

Born in 1964 in Anjar, Lebanon.

It was obvious that he was gifted since he was very young, as he could play different musical instruments, without any musical education.

He was brought up with music all along.

In the early 1980’s Taslakian realized that it was time for him to learn more about music. But it was impossible to attain official education at that time, so, he familiarized himself with the notes and gradually educated himself with the different aspects of music.

In 1986, Taslakian started conducting the “Ardzivian” choir, and there-on the journey began.

From 1992-1998 he specialized in conducting and musical education with the world famous conductor Haroutyoun Topikian and Professor-composer Yervant Yerkanian, who took special care of him at “Parsegh Kanatchian” musical academy in Beirut.

Since 1997, he attends courses in Armenia with different musicians and conductors almost every year.

Taslakian took over the leadership of the following:

  -“ARDZIVIAN” Choir, 1986-1990 (Anjar)
  -“KOMITAS” Choir since 1990-2004 (Anjar)
  -“ST. PERGITCH” Choir 1992-1994 (Beirut)
  -“KOUSSAN” Choir 1995 (Beirut)

-“KOMITAS Chamber Choir" in Yerevan, since 2004 (Armenia)
